My grandfather was a Barber-Surgeon. A surgeon at the Finnish front against Russia during the Second World War. (In Swedish Fältskärns berättelser, in Finnish Välskärin kertomukset)

His stories did not survive, not more than the suppressed tale of his few and unpleasant remaining years, broken from those experiences.

I try to get more in contact with him by painting his possible tales from the everyday front life of the surgeon, behind the myths of heroes and Finnish sisu.
